It can scan the abdomen or chest for fluid accumulation, and monitor whether the patient has a pneumothorax that may have difficulty breathing. The cell volume and total solids can be measured repeatedly 4 to 5 hours after the biopsy to monitor blood loss, which requires repeated scans.
